I can’t say I love the onion reference since I”m a total onion hater, but I’ll go with it…

Burger Toppings

I write this post in honor of my two coworkers, Jon and Matt. These guys truly had me rolling on the floor at work last week. I don’t even remember what we were talking about, but we were all shedding some laughter tears.

Anyway, they ordered a bunch of meat from some Amish farm (stay tuned for the name of it). They were even more excited when they found out that their large order was half off. So 27 pounds of beef, lamb, turkey, and I’m sure a bunch of other type of burger patties later, these guys needed some help in getting a variety of topping ideas. Otherwise, they will be caramelizing onions every night for the next few weeks.

So here are some of my suggestions…

Burger Toppings1

  1. Rachael Ray’s French Onion Dip Burger
  2. Guacamole Burger
  3. Goat Cheese and Cranberry Sauce Turkey Burger
  4. Cheddar, Maple Syrup-Bacon and Fried Egg Burger

Burger Toppings

  1. Feta, Arugula, Olives and Sun-dried Tomatoes Lamb Burger
  2. Texican Burger – Jalapenos, Refried Beans, Pico de Gallo and Monterrey Jack Cheese
  3. Jamaican Jerk Burger with Pineapple
  4. Crab, Asparagus and Bearnaise Sauce Burger

There are tons of different options out there, but I figure this would be a great start! I definitely plan on trying most of these myself!

What toppings do you love on your burger?

Week 15

I decided to skip the blackboard and do some fun stuff with pictures. I think this is different and definitely takes less time.

The babe is the size of a navel orange!

Week15

Weekly Update:

Total weight gain/loss: I’m not sure… We’ll get the official added poundage from the doc next week.
Maternity clothes? Nothing new since the maternity leggings.
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: I’ve been waking up comfortably nuzzled in my body pillow laying on my back. Would have been awesome when I was training myself to sleep on my back. Let’s hope I can get myself to the left side and stay there!
Best moment this week: I feel great. No nausea or exhaustion.
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? Still missing the wine 😦
Movement: I thought I felt some flutters a few days ago…but maybe it’s too soon. I don’t know.
Food cravings: No pregnancy cravings…just the regular cheese craving.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Chicken still turns me off so I’m still staying away.
Have you started to show yet: Looks like I am! *Note..this picture was taken in the evening so there’s definitely some food baby in there as well.
Gender prediction: No clue…trying not to lean one way or the other…but I def can’t wait to find out!!
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out? All the way in.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Very happy! But am like a firecracker and if I get pissed off, it’s very easy to tell. I’m not sure that’s any different from normal.
Looking forward to: Finding out if it’s a boy or a girl and making plans on decorating the nursery (in the home that we don’t own yet!).

Browned Butter Bourbon Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Happy Thanksgiving!!

This post will be short and sweet because I really need to go shower and get ready for the big day of eating.

I made this delicious goodness as my contribution to both of the dinners we will be going to today. One is for Nick’s side of the family and the other is for mine…I’m still trying to get my Russian family to fall in love with sweet potato dishes. We’ll see what they think about it this year. All I have to say is this dish smells absolutely delish!

Here are the steps that I took…first peel, coarsely chop and boil the potatoes.

Then make the butter, bourbon and brown sugar mixture. (Looks like I forgot to take a pic of this step…ooopsies)

After you mash the potatoes with the sweet, alcoholic butter mixture, layer the mashed potatoes with the chopped pecans. Repeat once more.

And viola! You’re done! Yay!

Here’s the recipe if you decide to save this one for next year…or just a random dinner.

Enjoy your day and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!

Shower time 🙂
